Born to actors in the chinese opera he was born into a world of theater. Bruce Lee was born in San Fransisco November27th 1940 while the opera was touring in the United States. San Francisco would play a major role in Bruces life as he would spend much of his time there. But his initial 18 years was spent growing up in China. There Bruce was taught lessons in gung Fu. Martial arts would become the primordial theme of his life as it would bring him fame and would teach him the observe and courage attained through perserverence. It would also become his pose to the western world.
At the ripe age of 18 youngish Lee would leave Hong Kong to journey to America with only $100 where he would claim the citizenship that was right intacty his. Shortly after his arriver in San Fransisco Bruce would leave for Seattle seeking a higher education. In Seattle he would major in philosophy at University of Washington.
Bruce would oft relate philosophical ideas and warlike arts techniques. Bruce opened his prototypical offical school in the early 1960s. This school was in a small basement on 8th street in Seattles Chinatown. By 1963 Bruce had too many students to stay in the basement causing him to open a new, larger school. Linda Emery would enrol Bruces school where Bruce would take a special engagement in her and would later marry her in 1964.
During the time that Bruce Lee was teaching martial arts it was considered unacceptable to teach the martial art to the non-Chinese.
