Drawing on what I have learned from City Road Making Social Lives DVD and Learning Companion 1, I will describe how material things help to create winners and losers on a street I know. The street I will be describing is Westgate Street in the urban center of Wakefield. Westgate is alot like City Road in the fact that it is a multi cultural street with many businesses run by local anaesthetic people as well as some big companies such as Subway. The road is the main link amidst the city and the motorway in that respectfore is a main broker in commuting to work at all generation of the day.
My understanding of the term winners and losers is, winners would be a person or group that benefit from a material aspects such as pedestrian crossings where the winner would be the pedestrian.
