The Russian Revolution is the collective term for a series of revolutions in Russia in 1917, which destroyed the  tsarist autarky and led to the creation of the Soviet Union. The tzar was deposed and replaced by a provisional government in the first revolution of February 1917 (March in the Gregorian calendar; the older Julian calendar was in use in Russia at the time). In the second revolution, during October, the provisional Government was removed and replaced with a Bolshevik(Communist) government.

After the entry of Turkey on the position of the Central Powers in October 1914, Russia was deprived of a major profession route through Turkey, which followed with a minor economic crisis, in which Russia became incapable of providing munitions to their army in the years leading to 1917. However, the problems were solely administrative, and not industrial as Germany was producing great amounts of munitions whilst constantly conflict on two major battlefronts.[3]
