Okonkwo?s first prominent flaw is his dismay of failure, which is greatly influenced by his father, Unoka, a very lazy and empty-headed man. Which in the end brings about his own destruction. Ashamed of his father, anything he enjoyed or was related to, Okonkwo saw as weak and unnecessary. Unoka, the grown-up, was a failure. He was poor and his wife and children had barely enough to eat.
