doubting doubting Thomas Paine was born on January 29th, 1737 in Britain. After a absolutely basic education that lasted till he was about thirteen, he began to work as a Tax collector. During this occupation Thomas Paine was very unsuccessful. He was dismissed from his post and in 1772; he was fired for publishing an article arguing that raising levy collectors salaries would reduce corruption. In 1774, he met Benjamin Franklin in London, who aware him to immigrate to America. Paine arrived in Philadelphia on November 30, 1774, starting over as a publicist. Upon arrival in Philadelphia, Paine had sensed the rise of tension, and the meat of rebellion that had steadily mounted in the Colonies after the capital of Massachusetts Tea party and the battles of Lexington and Concord. Paine believed that the Colonies had the right to revolt against a governing that imposed taxes on them and did not give them the right of office in the Parliament. His beliefs were that there was no reason for the Colonies to stay hooked on England, and in January 10th, 1776 Paine formulated his ideas on American independence in his pamphlet, Common Sense. Although Thomas Paine was an Immigrant, he was one of the roughly influential men during the American Revolution.




In Common Sense, Paine believed it was Americas beaver interest to be free from Britain because the colony would benefit near from the economical advances that may come if trade was opened up to France, Spain, etc. Another example would be that other countries, such as France wouldnt recognize the American colonies as an unaffiliated country unless they declare independence from Britain. Thus causing the question, ordain the colonies benefit from continued attachment with Britain?
