When I was told that there was a caste being offered called infamous Prisons, my first thought was, now that sounds like an interesting class! Then I began to think about the fact that a college class was even considered, let alone taught, about prisons; disreputable or otherwise. This was well-nighthing to actually think about. Prisons are places society commonly doesnt want to think about, let alone, learn anything about. At least, that is what I believed. Again, after much thought, my conclusion to having enrolled and now closing curtain to completing a class on prisons, all I cook to exclaim is, it certainly is about time. - No punning intended - !!
This led me to think about exactly what prisons bewilder lead in our country and honestly, the situation of prisons in our country. Sadly, it has become a national disgrace. The 2.2 million united States citizens that wake up every morning inside a prison cell, represents a rate that is unprecedented in all of human history. The United States has less than 5% of the worlds population exactly over 23% of the worlds incarcerated (Bureau of Justice Statistics).
We have the politicians and the media to thank for this inexcusable reality. The newspapers and nightly newscast cultivates crime anxiety that politicians execution to bother elected to office.



Lawmakers earn their tough-on-crime policies by enacting even harsher barbarous punishments. To make matters even worse, criminal policies emphasize incapacitation over rehabilitation. nowhere is this more apparent than to those attempting to educate themselves from behind bars.
